Dream 3 draft
Oct. 24th, 2012 04:25 pmThe office Yuan sat in probably looked familiar to anyone that saw his last dream. Or had been there before. Whichever. It didn't really matter because it's quite obvious by the expression on Yuan's face as he sits at his desk that he felt like something was very off. He shifted in his chair a few times. Sitting here just did not feel right. Like something was...missing...
He looked down, only to see his armor and himself sitting in the chair. Why did he keep swearing something was so... Wait...
Where was his cape?!
Okay, think, Yuan. The last time he had seen it... Oh. Right. Well Yuan should really have gotten it back by now. What if something horrible had happened to it? He raced out the door straight into the streets of Welgaia.
Why was he...? Yuan looked around quickly before shutting the door, hoping no one had seen that. In retrospect, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to have the main office for the Renegades in Cruxis' main base. What had been his logic on that, again?
No time to debate that now, he had other things to worry about! He raced past a few doors before finally stopping at one and flinging it open. Inside was what looked like a single room oddly enough, but it looked more like a forest of papers and books than a residence. Yuan knew better, however. Why had he ever thought it was a good idea to loan that spoiled rich slob his favorite cape, anyway? Like he cared about that guy's love life. "Of course it has to be something a cape would blend into," he muttered to himself, though he immediately questioned why that was even the case before dropping it.
Yuan started scouring the stacks and piles of papers and books, hoping to catch some glimpse of the dark gray, red, or gold trim of the fabric. After 10 minutes of searching, however, he heard a knock on the door, followed by it immediately opening. Yuan froze in place.
"Kratos, do you know...?"
Yuan turned his head to the door slowly. No, not that voice. Anyone but him right now...
His fears were confirmed when he saw the "man" with long blond hair and a very tight white outfit standing at the door, seeming mildly surprised to see him. "Yggdrasill!" he said, more accusingly than anything.
"Oh, Yuan. You're actually just the person I was looking for." Yggdrasill smirked at him a bit, not showing any sign of offense at Yuan's tone or any of the usual animosity he had gotten from him in the last several months. "Follow me." The leader of Cruxis immediately turned and walked off. Yuan hesitated for a moment before deciding it might be in his best interest in the long run to just follow him.
A mere few seconds later, almost as though they had teleported in the middle of the walkway, they were standing in a large blue and purple chamber. There were intricate looking devices in the room, but the most notable feature was what looked like a very large, shiny blue flower bud floating in the middle of the room. Closer inspection would reveal the shape of a young woman with very long hair integrated into the middle of it, but it was hard for Yuan to look at her, so the image wasn't very clear.
Besides, he was a bit distracted by the fact that he heard a noise coming from Yggdrasill's direction. Yuan frowned at him, trying to determine what these sounds were. Judging from the pleased grin on his face... wait, was he humming? Why did this strike him with abject terror?
"I have wonderful news, Yuan," he finally said, smiling at the shiny floating blue thing. "And it's all thanks to you." He giggled slightly.
"Wh-What the...?"
"Our researchers have just given me conclusive evidence that we will be able to keep the Great Seed alive indefinitely." The other angel reached down and grabbed a large, cloth sack that had apparently been right next to him. "All we need to use is fertilizer. It will be simple, yet incredibly effective."
Yuan just stared with his mouth agape, unsure of just what the right mixture of shock and horror was for this revelation.
Still holding the bag, Yggdrasill beamed triumphantly at the Great Seed. "This way, we will able to keep working until a truly perfect vessel is prepared! I must admit, Yuan, as much as I thought you and those pesky Renegades were in my way, your efforts saved me from giving her anything less than perfection. I have to thank you."
"I-I..." A feeling of despair swept over Yuan, and it showed. Discovering that all of his work having been for nothing had been a bad enough blow before, but to have it actually help them accomplish the revival? This was a wide-awake nightmare. "That's not what-!"
"Always so humble, Yuan," Yggdrasill interrupted, turning toward him with a smile. "But I insist you accept my gratitude." The bag of fertilizer had vanished, and the other "man" slowly closed the gap between them and embraced him. Yuan wanted to scream, but his voice was too busy trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
After the longest three seconds in history, Yggdrasill finally stepped back. "Oh yes, I need you to print off the cookie order forms for this year, Yuan. It's fundraiser time~" With that final bit of sing-song tone in his voice, he turned back to the Great Seed. He was holding the bag of fertilizer just as suddenly as it had vanished, and very slowly approached the large object, a feeling of complete victory hanging around him.
Yuan was frozen with his terror. This was so bad he had totally forgotten about his cape. No no NO! Why couldn't this all just be a slightly worse than normal dr...?!

[Yuan bolts into a sitting position, breathing heavily. Good, it really was all a dream.
